A Moment of Many Paths returns to the finale aboard the Halcyon, when Rey and Kylo Ren’s duel pulled every passenger into the same shared current. Scoundrels, Resistance allies, Force-sensitive hopefuls, First Order loyalists, and people who were mostly trying to survive their datapad notifications all found themselves standing in the same story.

Created in Nelson Ruger’s cinematic geometric impressionist style, this piece is about that convergence — the moment when separate choices, private missions, and half-understood alliances suddenly became one memory. It is a tribute to the strange magic of the Starcruiser: immersive, sincere, a little impossible, and somehow still echoing after the doors closed.

Inspiration

This piece was created for Halcy-Con 2026 as part of Nelson Ruger’s ongoing Halcyon Saga series — a body of work devoted to honoring the Galactic Starcruiser experience and the memories it left behind.

For this artwork, the inspiration came from one of the voyage’s most unforgettable emotional turning points: the finale in the Atrium, when Rey and Kylo Ren’s duel drew the entire ship into a single shared moment. No matter which path a passenger had followed aboard the Halcyon, this was one of those rare moments when every story seemed to converge.

The goal was not simply to capture a scene, but to preserve the feeling of that convergence — the energy, the stakes, and the sense that for one brief moment, everyone aboard was standing inside the same story together.
